Is it okay to talk to AI about your problems?

For most people, as a first step, yes. It's open at 3 a.m., it doesn't judge, it listens patiently. But a general chatbot meets you from zero every time and replies with long paragraphs of advice. An AI built for this remembers you and takes the conversation somewhere.

“I want to talk to an AI about my feelings. Is that weird?”
“I vent to ChatGPT, but I have to explain everything from scratch every time.”
“It's easier to tell an AI what I can't tell people.”

Why people open up to AI

Because no face changes expression. There's no fear of being a burden, no worry about who they'll tell, and an answer comes at any hour. For many people it's the first place they put what's in their head into proper sentences.

A general chatbot vs. Seramel

  • It remembers. It knows the person you mentioned last week, the step you tried, what didn't help. You don't start over.
  • It keeps it short. No walls of advice; it talks with you, a few sentences at a time.
  • It sees the loop. It puts two similar moments side by side and names what keeps pulling you back, in your own words.
  • One step, then it asks. One concrete step for the next 24–72 hours, and next time: “how did it go?”
  • It knows its limits. If it sees signs of crisis, it stops and points you to real people and local helplines.

Is it safe to talk to an AI?

You have the right to know where things go. Seramel doesn't need your real name. What you write is processed by Google Gemini to generate replies; your name and e-mail are not sent, and your data is never used for model training, sold or used for ads. Conversation text is deleted after 90 days; deleting your account deletes everything, including your map and memory. Our servers are in Europe.

Still, an AI is not a doctor and gives no medical advice. If you're thinking about harming yourself, call your local emergency number now.

This might sound silly, but it's easier to tell an AI.

Not silly. What's the thing you haven't been able to tell anyone?
You
I hate my job, but if I quit my parents will be disappointed.

When did that come up last, did something happen today?

Questions

Is it safe to vent to ChatGPT?

With general chatbots, what you write is stored under that service's own policy, so it's worth checking your settings. On Seramel you don't need a real name, your data isn't used for training, conversation text is deleted after 90 days, and deleting your account deletes everything.

Can I talk to an AI for free?

Yes. Your first 8 conversations on Seramel are free, no card needed. After that there's a monthly Premium; your map and cards always stay free.

Can an AI replace talking to a person?

No, and it shouldn't. Seramel helps you sort out your thoughts and see the loop you repeat; for many people that makes talking to real people easier. It is not a clinical service.
